Mrs. Gnorek has been a primary teacher at Union East Elementary in the Cheektowaga Central School district for more than 20 years. Deana has been teaching kindergarten for the past 14 years and is devoted to creating lifelong problem solvers in both math and science. Engaging math journals have also been incorporated into the kindergarten curriculum to improve number sense. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Gnorek coordinates the STEM club for grades 3 and 4. Deana also mentors first year teachers in her district. She is a member of the Math Curriculum Committee and an invited member of the Cheektowaga Central Administrator’s Panel. Outside of the school day, Deana enjoys the four seasons of Western New York. Skiing, hiking, and kayaking are some of her favorite activities. Mrs. Gnorek is looking forward to the participation and collaboration provided by the Master Teacher’s professional program.
